Setting a Budget for Your Project

Posted on 28. May, 2009 by Justin in My Garden Diary

I've been asked by quite a few people what I've paid for the work I've done in my garden. I had a budget of £1000 in my head before I started this year but thought you might all be interested in seeing how it all worked out.

Greehouse Purchase - £550
Removal of my old Shed, Flattening the ground and install of the greenhouse  - £200
Raised Beds - £153
Greenhouse Staging - £94
Soil and Compost - £60
Plants, Fruit Bushes, Seeds and Pots - £100
Weed Membrain and slate chippings - £32

 Total cost - £1189

I'm a total of £189 over my budget with very little left to spend this year. By my calculations it should take me about 3 years for all this to pay for itself  and to get a return on investment. I'm expecting my greenhouse to last for 15 years and the raised beds for 5 years.

I'm going to write a post towards the end of the season to calculate the total amount of money I think I've saved by growing my own.
